Vampire Crawlers Cherry Bomb: Evolution & Bombard Gem¶
Short answer
Cherry Bomb has no evolution in Vampire Crawlers. The game ships 18 evolution recipes and Cherry Bomb is not the primary or the secondary in any of them. It is a 1-Mana attack card that deals 45 damage with a chance to explode, and its support piece is the Bombard gem, not a recipe. The Cherry Bomb evolution you remember is from Vampire Survivors, where the weapon becomes Yatta Daikarin.
That distinction is the whole answer, and it is worth spelling out because the two games share a name, a sprite and a character. In one, Cherry Bomb is a weapon with a recipe; in the other, it is a card with a gem.
The card, by the numbers¶
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Attack card (red) |
| Mana cost | 1 |
| Damage | 45 |
| Card text | "Deal 45 damage. Chance to explode." |
| Gem slots | 1–2 |
| Unlocked by | Reaching level 15 with Cavallo |
| Released | 21 April 2026 |
| In the demo | No |
| Internal ID | Card_A_0_CherryBomb |
The card is a straight damage play at the cheapest non-zero price in the game. There is no condition, no setup and no target restriction in the text: 45 damage, with an explosion chance on top. The 1–2 gem slots are the part that matters later, because the second slot is what lets Bombard share the card with a damage gem.
Why there is no Cherry Bomb evolution¶
Every evolution in the game follows the same shape: a primary weapon, a secondary card of a specific type, and an Evolution gem applied at an Evolution statue. The full chart lists 18 recipes, from Whip plus a Heart for Bloody Tear to Unearthly Bolt plus a Tirajisú for Spirit Disturbance.
Cherry Bomb appears in none of them. It is not a primary weapon in any recipe, and it is not the secondary for any other weapon either: the secondaries are item types (Heart, Tome, Armor, Bracer, Candle, Spinach, Duplicator, Pummarola, Spellbinder, Clover, Crown, Tirajisú, Wings, Skull O'Maniac, Attractorb, Mask), not attack cards. There is no recipe left for it to slot into.
The Grim Grimoire, the relic that lists every recipe you have unlocked, confirms the same thing by omission: it never shows a Cherry Bomb entry, because there is nothing to show.
Where the recipe you remember comes from¶
The Cherry Bomb evolution is real, in a different game. In Vampire Survivors, Cherry Bomb is a weapon, it is Yatta Cavallo's starting weapon, and its evolution is Yatta Daikarin, which needs Chaos Rosalia and level 80 while playing as Yatta Cavallo.
| Vampire Survivors | Vampire Crawlers | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A weapon | An attack card |
| Cost | A weapon slot | 1 Mana |
| Damage | Base damage plus levels | 45 flat |
| Evolution | Yatta Daikarin (Chaos Rosalia, level 80 as Yatta Cavallo) | None |
| Support piece | Passive items | Bombard gem |
If a guide told you to hunt Chaos Rosalia in Crawlers, it was written for the 2022 game: Crawlers has no Chaos Rosalia and no level-80 character requirement for a card.
What Cherry Bomb gets instead: Bombard¶
Bombard is a Rare gem with the description "Ch Ch Ch Cherry Bomb." It unlocks after playing Cherry Bomb 50 times, and it slots into a card's gem slot once you have the Gem Hammer relic.
That is the closest thing to an upgrade path the card has, and it is a gem rather than a recipe: gems are applied at the Blacksmith or with the Gem Hammer, they do not consume a second card, and they do not change Cherry Bomb into a different card. The gem list has Bombard in the Rare tier, alongside the rest of the 62.
One honest limit: the game's own description of Bombard is that one line, and the official wiki does not break down the effect further. It is a Cherry Bomb payoff, and the exact numbers behind it are not documented.
Luck is the real upgrade¶
Since Death Parade (v1.6.1, 12 October 2026), Luck scales the bounce count on Bone, Cherry Bomb and Heaven Sword. Before that patch, Luck was a shop stat for most builds; on these three cards it is now raw damage.
The card text still reads "chance to explode", which is why players assume Luck buys explosion odds. The stat the wiki ties to the card is the bounce count, and more bounces means more hits from the same cast. If you are building around Cherry Bomb, Luck is not a luxury stat, it is the damage stat.
One Mana, compared¶
Cherry Bomb shares its price point with six other attack cards. This is the company it keeps.
| Card | Mana | Damage | Extra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cherry Bomb | 1 | 45 | Chance to explode, bounces scale with Luck |
| Fire Wand | 1 | 45 | None |
| King Bible | 1 | 40 | Chance to knockback |
| Gatti Amari | 1 | 40 | Chance to scuffle |
| Runetracer | 1 | 15 | Bounces for more |
| Garlic | 1 | 10 to the front row | Disarm |
| Gorgeous Moon | 1 | Erase 1 enemy | Moonrise |
Against Fire Wand, Cherry Bomb is the same 45 damage with an explosion chance on top. Against King Bible and Gatti Amari it trades utility for raw numbers. The card's niche is the one-mana step that still hits hard enough to matter in the third and fourth dungeon, where 45 damage stops clearing a wave on its own but a bounced 45 does.
Where it fits in a deck¶
- The one-Mana rung. The combo curve runs 0 → 1 → 2. Cherry Bomb is a natural second card, and it keeps the chain alive when your only other options are 2-cost.
- A red trigger. Antonio pays +10% damage per red card, five times, so a red attack at 1 Mana advances his counter without wrecking the curve.
- A Bombard carrier. With the second gem slot (Blacksmith), Bombard plus a damage gem is the closest the card gets to an evolution.
- Not a Banish target. At 1 Mana it stays playable in every stage of the game, which is more than most cards manage.
The two achievements¶
| Achievement | Requirement | Steam % |
|---|---|---|
| Cherry Bomb | Reach Level 15 with Yatta Cavallo | 36.6% |
| Bombard Gem | Play lots of Cherry Bomb cards | 36.0% |
The first is the card's unlock condition, so you cannot miss it while unlocking the card. The second is the Bombard gem unlock, and "lots" means 50 plays: the same counter that unlocks the gem. Both sit in the mid-thirties, which makes Cherry Bomb one of the more common cards in the achievement list.
Q: Does Cherry Bomb evolve in Vampire Crawlers?¶
No. The 18-recipe chart has no Cherry Bomb entry, and the card is not a secondary for any other weapon. The evolution people remember, Yatta Daikarin, belongs to Vampire Survivors and needs Chaos Rosalia plus level 80 as Yatta Cavallo.
Q: What does the Bombard gem do?¶
It is a Rare gem with the description "Ch Ch Ch Cherry Bomb.", unlocked by playing Cherry Bomb 50 times. It slots into Cherry Bomb's gem slot as a payoff for the card. The wiki does not publish its exact numbers, so the effect beyond that line is not documented.
Q: Is Cherry Bomb worth playing?¶
Yes, as a curve card rather than a carry. 45 damage for 1 Mana matches Fire Wand, and the explosion chance plus Luck-scaled bounces give it a higher ceiling. It stops being enough on its own around the fourth dungeon, where 45 damage no longer clears a wave.
Q: How do I unlock Cherry Bomb?¶
Reach level 15 with Cavallo. The Steam achievement for the same unlock uses his full name, Yatta Cavallo. You also need to own him first: he is a 500-gold Crawler, and the character list has his trigger and price.
Q: Does Luck affect Cherry Bomb?¶
Yes, since v1.6.1 (Death Parade, 12 October 2026). Luck scales the number of bounces, so a high-Luck Cherry Bomb hits more times per cast. The explosion chance in the card text is not the stat the wiki documents as Luck-scaled.
