Vampire Crawlers Controls and the 12 Supported Languages

Two things the game buries in the Settings building: 15 keyboard bindings (all rebindable) and three controller layouts (not rebindable, preset only). On top of that it ships in 12 languages, which is more than most guides assume.

This page is the reference for both, because "does it support Chinese" and "can I rebind End Turn" are the two things people actually search for and almost nobody answers.

The 12 supported languages

Language In-game name This site
English English Yes
French Français Yes
German Deutsch Yes
Italian Italiano Yes
Japanese 日本語 Yes
Spanish Español Yes
Brazilian Portuguese Português (Brasil) Yes
Russian Русский Yes
Traditional Chinese 繁體中文 Not yet
Simplified Chinese 简体中文 Not yet
Korean 한국어 Not yet
Polish Polski Not yet

Two honest notes about that last column:

  • The game ships 12 languages. This guide exists in 8 of them: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian.
  • The four we do not cover are the four biggest non-English audiences we are missing, and that is a real gap, not a humble-brag. Chinese and Korean players get the game in their language and the guide in English.

The language setting only changes text. There is no separate voice track: dialogue is English in every version, which is why the voice-actor table on the characters page applies to all 12 languages.

Keyboard controls (15 binds, all rebindable)

Action Default binding
Move Forward W
Move Backwards S
Move Left A
Move Right D
Move Forward Up Arrow
Move Backwards Down Arrow
Turn Left Left Arrow
Turn Right Right Arrow
Turn Left Q
Turn Right E
Show Deck Pile Z
Show Discard Pile C
Play All G
End Turn H
Toggle Tooltips T

Two bindings are worth calling out because they are duplicated on purpose:

  • Move Forward and Move Backwards each appear twice (W/S and the up/down arrows), so both hand positions work.
  • Turn Left and Turn Right appear twice as well (arrows and Q/E). Q/E is the one that makes the game feel like a first-person crawler rather than a card game.

Everything in this table can be rebound from Settings → Keyboard Input. There is no "reset to default" trap: the defaults above are what a fresh install gives you.

Controller layouts (3 presets, not rebindable)

Action Layout 1 Layout 2 Layout 3
Move Left Stick Left Stick Left Stick
Strafe Left Stick Right Stick Left Stick
Turn Right Stick Left Stick Right Stick
Interact A A A
Play All X X B
Toggle Tooltips Y Y Y
Move (D-pad) D-pad D-pad D-pad
Strafe (D-pad) D-pad LT/RT D-pad
Turn (D-pad) LT/RT D-pad LT/RT
Cancel B B B
End Turn B B X

The three layouts are presets, not rebinds: you pick one and the game maps it, which is why the same action can land on two different buttons depending on the layout. The differences that matter:

  • Layouts 1 and 3 put strafe on the left stick and turn on the right one; Layout 2 swaps the two, so strafe moves to the right stick and turning to the left.
  • End Turn is B in Layouts 1 and 2, but X in Layout 3, so a player switching layouts will end a turn by accident at least once.
  • Play All moves from X to B in Layout 3, the mirror of the End Turn swap.

What the settings menu does not have

  • No difficulty selector and no assist mode (see the accessibility list for the six options it does have).
  • No separate voice-language setting, because there is only one voice track.
  • No keyboard-to-controller remapping per action; controller is preset-only.
