Vampire Crawlers Cross-Save: What Works and What Does Not

There is no cross-save in Vampire Crawlers, and no official way to move a save between platforms. poncle's mobile FAQ, published with the 12 October 2026 phone launch, says it is "working on implementing the poncle account to allow moving save data between different platforms", and that the account "will be coming down the line". Until it ships, a run started on Steam stays on Steam, and the 161 achievements stay on the platform where you earned them.

That is the short version. The longer one matters because two different promises are floating around: the launch FAQ said poncle was looking at cross-save "on time for the mobile ports", and the mobile ports arrived without it. The current wording is about a poncle account, not a date.

The official position, in order

When Source What it says
Launch, 21 April 2026 Official FAQ "Not at launch, we're looking into it on time for the mobile ports."
12 October 2026 Mobile FAQ "Not yet; we are working on implementing the poncle account to allow moving save data between different platforms."
12 October 2026 Mobile FAQ Same-OS sharing only: "you can share saves between Android devices, or between Apple devices, but not from PC or console at launch."

The mobile FAQ is the newer document and the one to trust. It confirms the account is still unbuilt and that the mobile launch did not bring PC or console saves across.

Which routes work today

Route Works? What the source says
Steam to another Steam PC Yes, via Steam Cloud Steam Cloud is listed as a game feature on the store page
Steam to Epic Not documented No cross-store sync is announced
PC to console No poncle: no cross-save
Console to console, same family Not documented No game-specific statement found
Android to Android Yes Mobile FAQ: saves can be shared between Android devices
iPhone or iPad to another Apple device Yes Mobile FAQ: saves can be shared between Apple devices
PC or console to mobile No Mobile FAQ: "not from PC or console at launch"
Game Pass PC to Steam Not documented No migration path published by poncle or the wiki
Demo to full game, Steam Yes Official FAQ: demo save data carries over

The demo row is the only cross-version transfer poncle actually supports, and it is Steam-only because the demo is a Steam build.

What a save file actually is

The save is a JSON file, and the wiki documents both its location and its structure (Crawlers: SaveProfile).

Item Value
Windows path %APPDATA%\LocalLow\Nosebleed Interactive\Vampire Crawlers\*.sav
Steam Play path <SteamLibrary-folder>/steamapps/compatdata/3265700/pfx/
Format JSON, with a version field and a checksum field
File name, community reports SaveProfile0.save inside a Save folder, with a Backups folder beside it
Profile data Coins, purchased Crawlers, Power Up levels, achievements, gem slots, gem frequencies
Run data Selected dungeon, party, Arcana, enabled relics, Hurry Mode flag

That split is the important part for anyone planning a transfer. Everything you would hate to lose (coins, gems, unlocks) lives in the profile blocks. The run block is just the setup for the dungeon you last selected.

Game Pass to Steam: what is documented and what is not

Not documented. No poncle post, FAQ, patch note or wiki page describes moving a Vampire Crawlers save from the Xbox PC app to Steam, and no third-party guide for this game turned up in the research for this page (checked 4 November 2026). Guides exist for Vampire Survivors, which is a different game with a different save system, so their steps do not transfer.

What is documented is narrower, and worth knowing before you try anything:

  • The Windows save path above is the one the wiki records for the PC build.
  • The save carries a checksum field, and since v1.4.1 the game "improve[s] detection for corrupt save data, or save data brought back from a later version to an earlier one" (1.4.1 notes). A file the game does not recognise is rejected rather than loaded.
  • Whether the Game Pass PC build writes to that same folder is not documented, so even the file's location on that build is unconfirmed.

So the honest answer is: there is no published method, and copying files between storefronts is unsupported. If you want one save on both, the supported route is to wait for the poncle account, or to pick the platform you will finish on and stay there (platform comparison).

Does it save mid-run?

There is no manual save and no save button. The game autosaves, and a third-party guide dated 27 April 2026 lists exactly when (Game Rant).

Moment Autosaves?
Buying something in the Village Yes
Switching Crawlers in the Village Yes
Switching Arcana in the Village Yes
After a battle Yes
After opening a chest Yes
After a single turn in battle No
After refunding Power Ups No

Patch 1.5 added "clearer messaging around Autosave timing" to the quit confirmation, which means the popup itself now tells you what you are about to lose. That popup is the authority; the table above is the pattern behind it.

What a mid-run quit costs is the run. The FAQ answer is blunt about it: finish the floor you are on. What you keep is everything banked at the last autosave, which is why quitting right after a chest is safe and quitting mid-fight is not.

One detail is genuinely not documented: whether a quit on floor 3 resumes you at floor 3, at the floor entrance, or not at all. The save's run block stores the dungeon, party, Arcana, relics and Hurry flag, and no floor counter or enemy state appears in the documented schema.

ALT+F4, crashes, and closing the game

Killing the process is the same trade as quitting from the menu, with one extra risk: if the game is mid-write, the file can be damaged.

  • Progress: you keep whatever the last autosave captured. Anything since, including the current floor, is gone.
  • File integrity: v1.4.1 added "improve[d] saving integrity to avoid corruption in the case of power cuts or unexpected app closure", so a hard close is less likely to brick the profile than it was at launch. It does not restore lost progress.
  • Version upgrades: patch day can end a run on its own. The Death Parade notes say that "due to the way Save Data upgrading currently works, players will be returned to The Village if they are mid-dungeon" (1.6.1 notes).

The practical rule: quit from the menu, after a battle or a chest, never mid-fight and never during a save.

Cloud saves, platform by platform

Only one platform has a game-specific cloud statement, and it is Steam.

Platform Cloud saves Basis
Steam Yes "Steam Cloud" is listed in the store page's feature list
Epic Games Store Not documented No statement found
Xbox and Game Pass Not documented for this game No game-specific statement found
PS5 Not documented for this game No statement found
Switch and Switch 2 Not documented for this game No statement found
iOS and Android Same-OS sharing only Mobile FAQ

"Not documented" here does not mean "does not work". It means no source used on this page states the behaviour, so this page does not claim it. Check the store listing for the platform you care about before buying twice.

Q: Is cross-save available yet?

No. poncle's mobile FAQ (12 October 2026) says "Not yet", and the mechanism it describes, a poncle account, has not shipped. The launch FAQ's hope of having it ready for the mobile ports did not happen.

Q: Can I move my Game Pass save to Steam?

No published method exists. The save path and JSON format are documented, but no source describes a supported transfer between the Xbox PC app and Steam, and the file carries a checksum the game validates. Guides for Vampire Survivors do not apply to this game.

Q: Does it save mid-run?

It autosaves after battles, after chests and after Village purchases or loadout changes, and not after each turn. There is no manual save. Quitting mid-run costs that run; you keep the profile progress from the last autosave.

Q: What happens if I ALT+F4?

You resume from the last autosave and lose everything since it. Since v1.4.1 the save is hardened against unexpected closure, so corruption is less likely than at launch, but the lost progress is not recoverable.

Q: Do achievements transfer between platforms?

No. Achievements and trophies are platform-level, and with no cross-save there is nothing to sync. The list is 161 achievements on every platform that has them (full list).
