Vampire Crawlers Update & Roadmap: Every Patch, and What's Next¶
Short answer
Four releases so far: launch (21 April 2026), a stability patch v1.4.1 (30 April 2026), the QOL update 1.5 (23 June 2026) which added Endless Mode, and Death Parade = v1.6.1 (12 October 2026) which added a new zone, three dungeons and the iOS/Android versions. The next update is not dated: two content patches slipped to early 2027, and the only 2027 tease is a place called Astral Stair. There is no paid DLC: every content update has been free.
Vampire Crawlers shipped in April 2026 and has had three named updates since. That's a short list, but the three patches did very different jobs: 1.4.1 was pure bug-fixing, 1.5 was housekeeping plus one endless mode, and Death Parade was the first real content drop, and the point where the game reached phones. Below is the timeline as the official posts give it, what each patch changed in play, and what the 2027 plan does and doesn't promise.

The timeline in one table¶
| Date | Version | What shipped | Platforms |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21 April 2026 | Launch | Base game: 58 gems, 12 Arcana, 17 evolutions | Windows, macOS, Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S |
| 30 April 2026 | v1.4.1: stability patch | Eight stability fixes (crashes, saves, frame limiting); re-issued as Hotfix 1.4.1 on 23 June 2026 | Not stated |
| 23 June 2026 | v1.5: QOL update | Endless Mode, quit button, card sorting, deck view, Jeweller clarity, tooltips | PC first; consoles 14 July 2026 |
| 12 October 2026 | v1.6.1: Death Parade | 1 zone, 3 new stages (Moongolow, Moongohigh inside Moongolow, Gallo Dungeons inside Gallo Tower), taking dungeon families 8 → 9 (Meany Bridge shipped at launch), 2 purchasable Crawlers (a 3rd, Leda, unlocks in Endless), 2 weapons + 1 evolution + 1 utility card, 4 gems, 4 Arcana, 2 relics | All platforms, plus iOS and Android |
| 2027 (no date) | — | Two delayed content patches; Astral Stair teased for 2027 | Not announced |
Nothing newer than the 12 October post appears in the wiki's index of official posts as of 3 November 2026: no 1.6.2, no November patch notes (update index).
v1.4.1 (30 April 2026): the stability patch¶
No content and no balance changes: eight fixes, from crashes to save integrity:
- Gatti Amari: the crash caused by a Gatti Amari conflict is fixed.
- Tutorial exit: quitting before the tutorial loads no longer leaves a new player on the wrong save slot.
- Save detection: corrupted and downgraded saves are now detected instead of loaded.
- Frame limiting: the game caps its frame rate to the display refresh rate.
- Echo gem crash: fixed.
- Demo saves: demo progress carries over into the full game.
- Power loss: save integrity holds if the power goes out mid-save.
- Two slots at once: the bug that could load two save slots together is fixed.
It shipped twice. The same eight fixes were re-issued on 23 June 2026 as Hotfix 1.4.1, the same day 1.5 landed, so a changelog that shows 1.4.1 twice isn't an error.

QOL update 1.5 (23 June 2026)¶
The patch notes open with the joke everyone expected: "It took longer than expected because we got stuck for days trying to exit the game." The fix is literal: Settings and Quit are now always available in the bottom-left corner, and Backspace exits shops or returns you to the Village from the World Map.
The rest of 1.5 is quality-of-life that changes how fast you can read a hand:
- Card sorting: sort by Mana cost or colour, with up/down jumping between categories. This is the single most useful addition for learning combos; the cost order is the combo order (why).
- A single deck view showing every card and whether it's in your deck pile, hand or discard.
- Jeweller clarity: the UI now shows which chests can contain a gem, and sealing no longer requires grinding a gem's frequency below common; you can seal instantly.
- Grim Grimoire during level-ups, plus an indicator when an offered card is part of an evolution you've already discovered.
- Tooltip visibility options, and hidden stats like Reroll now shown when they aren't zero.
- Luck got economic teeth: a Luck-based chance of 4 gems per chest instead of 3, and Luck raises gem quality on level-up.
Endless Mode is the headline¶
Clear the game and a small new area appears on the map containing a new relic; with it active, Endless Mode becomes available in any dungeon you've already cleared. Difficulty keeps climbing as you dig past the normal floors (unlock chain and depth notes).
The design decision worth knowing: the Jeweller is disabled in Endless Mode. The official reason is that Endless should be "a challenge about going as deep as possible in a stage having to rely on the base-game RNG rather than a preset gem configuration." In practice that means your carefully tuned gem-rarity setup does not travel into Endless (gem and Jeweller guide).
1.5 also renamed the “Easy Combo” gem to Combo Breaker, because players kept missing that it ends the combo.
Death Parade (v1.6.1, 12 October 2026)¶
Death Parade is the content update, and it landed the same day the game hit iOS and Android: bringing the platform count to Steam, Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, iOS and Android.
Here is the official content list:
| Content | Count |
|---|---|
| New stage | 1 |
| New dungeons | 3, including Moongolow and Moongohigh |
| New Crawlers | 2 |
| New weapons | 2, plus 1 evolution and 1 utility card |
| New gems | 4 |
| New Arcanas | 4 |
| New relics | 2 |
That takes the game to 16 Arcana and 62 gems (12 + 4 Arcana, and 58 + 4 gems), and adds one recipe to the 17 launch evolutions (evolution chart, all gems, relics and Arcana).
The patch notes that change how you play¶
- "Handsize" is now "Deal Count." The Bracer and all related text were renamed to describe the mechanic properly: the number of cards dealt at the beginning of the turn. Old guides, and old search queries, still say Handsize or Hand (stats page).
- Bone, Cherry Bomb and Heaven Sword now have a chance of additional bounces that scales with Luck. Luck stopped being a pure shop stat for those three cards.
- Turkish and Ukrainian language support.
- Hand sorting is now a toggle that persists between turns and fights; the hover draw-delay was removed.
- No new Steam achievements. The list is still 161 (full list with unlock rates).
Where the new content actually is¶
After the final boss, explore the world map to find the new areas, Moongolow and Moongohigh. (poncle's announcement calls the three additions "new dungeons"; the wiki files them as stages, and Moongolow's arrival is what lifts the dungeon families from 8 to 9.) During your first playthrough of Moongolow the game forces Galileo's Hand on you: the relic that adds a Cap Hand Size button to the World Map, which is the challenge mechanic the 2026 roadmap promised. After that first run the choice is yours: use the button, or ignore it. The new content itself is available whether or not the new relics are toggled on, and the new gems work on existing cards.
The three new stages, by size:
| Dungeon | Floors | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Moongolow | 5 | 9 |
| Moongohigh | 7 | 10 |
| Gallo Dungeons | 3 | not listed |

One migration note, because of how save upgrading works, players mid-dungeon were returned to the Village on patch day.
What's next: 2027, and the two delayed patches¶
The Death Parade post is blunt about the schedule: the other two content patches were pushed to early 2027. The stated reasons were iterating on Death Parade's content to meet quality standards, and discovering that "the game framework wasn't ready to support content additions at the pace we expected."
What poncle committed to in the meantime:
- QOL patches still in 2026: no new content, but fixes.
- A beta branch for players who want to see new content early and give feedback.
- An updated roadmap "in the following months": none had appeared in the official update index as of 3 November 2026.
The 2026 roadmap's actual design¶
This matters for guessing what the delayed patches are. The 1.5 post set the pattern: every 2026 update adds a post-game Challenge Stage built around one new mechanic, and beating that stage unlocks a toggle so you can play the whole game with or without the mechanic. The challenge mechanic previewed for the next update was a limited hand size plus discarding, which is exactly what shipped in Death Parade's Moongolow/Moongohigh.
On that pattern, the two delayed patches should be two more challenge mechanics, not a new mode or a sequel. Which mechanics? Unannounced. Nothing in either post names them.
Astral Stair¶
The only 2027 tease is a name:
"For the next year, we are planning something different than Challenge Stages: we are building the Astral Stair. Where will you go? Who will you be?"
That's it: no date, no platform, no content list, and explicitly not a Challenge Stage. Note that Astral Stair is also the name of a Vampire Survivors stage from 2023, so search results mix the two games; the Crawlers version has no published details yet.
Is there paid DLC?¶
No. Death Parade's own FAQ answers "Is Death Parade a free update? Yes!", and the only DLC on the game's Steam page is the Vampire Crawlers Soundtrack ($2.99, released 21 April 2026): music, not content. There is no season pass, no expansion, and no announced paid content of any kind.
That matches the game's own record: three updates, all free, with a soundtrack as the only paid extra.
What to expect — and what not to¶
Reasonable to expect:
- Rest of 2026: QOL patches and a beta branch, not content. If you're waiting for new zones, the wait runs into 2027.
- Early 2027: the two delayed content patches, delivered as Challenge Stages with toggleable mechanics.
- 2027: Astral Stair, in some form poncle hasn't described.
Not reasonable to expect (nothing supports it):
- A date for Astral Stair, or a content count for it.
- Paid expansions.
- New achievements in the near term: Death Parade shipped without adding any.
- Same-day PC and console patches: 1.5 reached consoles on 14 July, three weeks after PC (platform notes).
Old guides that no longer work — and strategies that got stronger¶
If you're following a guide written before October 2026, these are the places it's now wrong.
| Old advice | What changed | What to do now |
|---|---|---|
| Search "Handsize" or "Hand Power Up" | Renamed Deal Count in v1.6.1, including Bracer's text | Search Deal Count; the wiki now redirects Hand → Deal Count |
| "Slot the “Easy Combo” gem" | Renamed Combo Breaker in v1.5 | Same gem, new name, and it still ends your combo |
| "Seal a gem by lowering its frequency below common" | Sealing is instant since v1.5 | Seal directly in the Jeweller |
| "A chest always gives 3 gems" | v1.5 added a Luck-based chance of 4 | Luck is now a chest-efficiency stat |
| "Your Jeweller setup carries into every run" | Endless Mode disables the Jeweller | In Endless, plan around base-game gem RNG |
| "Your hand is always at least 3" | Galileo's Hand is forced on you for the first Moongolow run, and adds a Cap Hand Size button to the World Map | Beat Moongolow once, then cap your hand only when you want the challenge |
| "Luck is only for shop offers" | Since v1.6.1 it scales bounces on Bone, Cherry Bomb and Heaven Sword | Luck stacking is a real damage plan on those cards |
| Old guides said "12 Arcana / 50 gems / 17 evolutions" | Death Parade added 4 Arcana, 4 gems and 1 evolution, and the launch gem count was actually 58, not 50 | 16 / 62 / 18 |
The flip side: what got stronger:
- Luck decks. Bounce scaling gave three weapons a second scaling stat, on top of Luck's existing offer and gem-quality value (which stats to stack).
- Discard decks. Death Parade's whole pitch was "several reasons to throw away perfectly good cards"; Leda and Troubler are the existing payoffs (roster).
- Old decks, new gems. poncle confirmed the four new gems work on existing cards, so a pre-October build can be upgraded without rebuilding it.
